Job description
To increase resources among the Policy Team, we are now seeking a highly qualified, talented and motivated candidate who will join our team in Brussels for a six-month paid internship and support our work especially with regards to advocacy and policy-making. Main client is the European Renewable Energies Federation. Priority topics include decarbonisation policies – e.g. under the European Green Deal, the Fit-for-55% Package and REPowerEU – and the much needed expansion of renewable energy sources. In terms of communication, we expect the selected candidate to lead on social media work.
Main tasks include
- Support the advocacy at EU and national levels in the energy and climate sector;
- Research and background policy briefs;
- Monitoring EU energy and climate policy initiatives and adaptation and implementation at Member State level;
- Input to publications such as reports and studies (including data research, consultancy reviews, etc.);
- Organisation and preparation of meetings and events both online and in live formats, including presentations, meeting minutes;
- Attending and reporting from official events (EP committee meetings, Commission conferences, hearings and workshops);
- Implementation of EU projects, with emphasis on activities that include policy advice, communication, dissemination;
- Screening of EU and national funding opportunities, as well as the contributing to tenders and project proposals;
- Communication activities and campaigns, especially via social media channels such as X and LinkedIn.
Requirements
- EU national or work permit holder as the internship is in Brussels, Belgium;
- A Master's degree in a relevant discipline;
- Proven knowledge, experience and skills in communications and social media campaigns and management of social media tools (LinkedIn, X, website, etc.);
- A good understanding of EU policy-making processes and EU energy policies;
- Very strong English written and verbal communication skills;
- Good communication skills in German (spoken and written) are considered as advantage;
- Strong research abilities, analytical skills and writing skills, including the ability to summarise issues quickly and accurately;
- Ability to work in a team, whilst at the same time carrying out own tasks independently and to agreed deadlines;
- Previous experience/internship in one of the European Institutions is considered as additional advantage.
