About this job opportunity

We are seeking a proactive Global Policy Lead – Customs to lead ICC’s global policy engagement on customs and trade facilitation issues, and drive the substantive development of customs policy positions and advocacy in key international forums.

A central responsibility of the role is managing the ICC Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission, which serves as a global platform for businesses to develop and advocate for simplified customs policies and practices that promote the efficient flow of goods across borders. A key aspect of the Commission’s work involves identifying best practices and providing global business input on rules and standards set by the World Customs Organization, where we act as the official industry observer.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Trade, you will:

  • Manage the ICC Global Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission, working with its officers to maintain a responsive agenda and ensure effective delivery against agreed objectives;
  • Deliver high-quality materials and communications to keep Commission members informed and engaged;
  • Work closely with company experts to draft and produce distinctive, value-add content on Customs and trade facilitation policies;
  • Lead targeted outreach to scale corporate engagement in the work of the ICC Global Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission;
  • Ensure effective ICC engagement at the World Customs Organization;
  • Prepare briefing notes, talking points, and speeches to support senior ICC representatives in key engagements;
  • Provide regular and concise reporting on activities, progress in objectives, and outcomes.

Your profile

Do not hesitate to apply if you:

  • Have a minimum of five years’ experience in logistics, supply chain, customs compliance or trade-related roles, ideally within the private sector;
  • Have a strong knowledge of trade, logistics, and customs processes;
  • Have a collaborative working style with a demonstrated ability to build consensus amongst diverse stakeholders;
  • Have a proven ability to grasp complex issues and communicate them effectively, both verbally and in writing, to non-specialist audiences;
  • Can demonstrate outstanding organisational skills with excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
  • Are open to travel internationally if needed;
  • Are fluent in English. Additional language skills would be a plus.
