The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is looking for a Communication Officer to join a team of professionals in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the ESM's visibility and reputation. This position involves working closely with various departments to ensure consistent and effective communication both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic communication, public relations, economics and finance, and content creation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic communication plans to enhance the organisation’s visibility and reputation;
  • Produce compelling and tailored content for multiple channels, including social media, the corporate website, and internal communications platforms;
  • Track, analyse, and report on media coverage to assess public perception and inform communication strategies;
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align messaging and ensure consistency across all communications;
  • Manage and coordinate responses to media inquiries, supporting timely and effective press engagement;
  • Assist speechwriters in crafting impactful messages that align with the institution’s communications strategy;
  • Assist in the planning, organisation, and execution of high-profile events such as press conferences, seminars, and public engagements.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field, with a strong background in economics and finance;
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications in the private or public sector. Past working experience in an International Financial Institution is considered an asset;
  • Proven experience in communication roles, with a focus on strategic planning and execution;
  • Ability to translate highly complex issues into accessible language;
  • Established experience in creating content for social media;
  • Knowledge of media relations and social media strategies;
  • A strong understanding of European economic and/or policy issues, and European institutions;
  • Ability to translate highly complex issues into accessible language;
  • Proven experience in design and implementing communication initiatives;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Good written and spoken knowledge of at least one additional EU language is an advantage.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Deadline for application: 8 April 2025;
  • Applicable employment grade: Officer;
  • Contract duration: Four years, with possibility of extension;
  • Place of employment: Luxembourg;
  • Current working arrangements: possibility to work remotely, normally up to two days a week, from Luxembourg and the border region (or from further away under certain conditions).
