Rud Pedersen Public Affairs is looking for a motivated trainee to join our growing Brussels public affairs consultancy for a 6-month paid internship.
Our Brussels office opened in 2017, and as a result of continued growth, we are currently looking to strengthen our team with a Research Executive who will support our key business areas in response to evolving client needs.
The position
In particular, the role entails:
- Following EU developments and undertaking initial research on policy issues on behalf of clients, particularly in the FinTech and/or technology sector;
- Supporting the team with legislative, regulatory and media monitoring, providing insights and reports for clients;
- Assisting in stakeholder engagement by mapping relevant policymakers, regulators, and industry actors;
- Contribute to association management, supporting coordination and implementation of activities (desirable but not essential);
- Help organise and manage events, including roundtables and policy discussions;
- Taking an active role in client teams, and suggesting improvements for servicing of clients with regards to research and analysis;
- Participating at external events relevant to day-to-day work and seeking to build relationships with external actors at an appropriate level;
- Building competence in undertaking public affairs tasks on behalf of clients.
Skills and Experience
- Experience the financial services or digital/tech sector, acquired in the EU institutions, or public affairs consultancy highly desirable;
- Enthusiasm, a sharp mind, a pro-active nature and strong communication skills;
- Knowledge of financial services regulation (in particular AML/CFT, sanctions, payments, digital finance) and/or tech (in particular PSD/PSR, IPR, DORA, AI Act, DSA & DMA, copyright etc.);
- Master’s degree in EU affairs, finance, economics or a related field;
- An enthusiasm for conducting public affairs and communications in all its forms, from direct outreach to social media engagement;
- Interest in helping to organise and manage events;
- Full professional proficiency in English, with working knowledge of French or another EU official language.
Your written English skills will be tested during the selection process via a short assessment.
