The position

We are recruiting a full-time Sustainable Finance Policy Adviser as a member of the Financing Sustainable Growth unit, which is dedicated to improving the conditions for banks’ financing of the economy through corporate lending, export credit, financial markets and sustainable finance.

In this role you will find yourself working in an ambitious team active in a sector critical for companies and households in Europe.

Responsibilities

At EBF, we provide our Policy Advisers with the responsibility to identify the banks’ interests, coordinate positions and present these views in multiple fora. That means you will be a full-fledged member of the EBF team as we navigate EU and international financial regulations, delivering effective engagement with EU policy makers and intelligence on key policy areas affecting one of the EU’s biggest industries. With your finger on the pulse of EU and international developments, an enthusiasm for hard work and an ambition to build your experience in banking services, this could be the role for you.

Your daily work will consist of a combination of:

Implementation of the EBF strategy and objectives on Sustainable Finance;
Engaging with European banks, coordinating internal EBF Working Groups and advocacy positions including drafting and delivering positions/responses to consultations on relevant legislation;
Active advocacy – outreach to MEPs, PermReps, EC, EBA & other relevant stakeholders;
Engaging in key projects advancing the development and integration of sustainable finance at European level in particular in the area of EU Taxonomy, ESG Disclosures, ESG Risk and financial markets;
Actively building relationships with key stakeholders in the area of sustainable finance;
Supporting the communication of EBF’s messages including public speaking and event organization.

Need to have

A passion for Europe and EU Affairs and excellent understanding of the EU decision-making process;
Good overview of banking business and EU public affairs with at least two years of working experience, preferably in the financial services industry, trade associations or EU institutions;
An academic background in finance/economy/political science/international relations or other relevant field of studies with an interest in developing experience in the banking sector;
A constructive, positive personality with the drive to get things done together;
Strategic and analytical thinking skills in a project-driven environment; Effective communication, organizational and team working skills;
Excellent speaking and writing skills in English;
Openness to assume responsibilities on a variety of technical matters.
