About ChargeUp Europe

ChargeUp Europe is the voice of the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure industry. EV charging is an innovative, fast-evolving, dynamic sector, at the forefront of the green and digital transition. Our growing membership stands for an EV charging infrastructure roll-out that starts from the consumer needs, makes EV driving convenient across borders, and promotes an open-market model supported by open standards and protocols.

Function

ChargeUp Europe is looking for a driven, enthusiastic professional for the position of Communications Officer/Manager (depending on experience). The recruitment is part of a larger evolution of the secretariat on the back of membership growth. The role of the Communications Officer/Manager involves both internal and external communication tasks such as communications planning, producing, publishing and updating content for the ChargeUp Europe website and active social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn), developing compelling narratives in support of our policy objectives, or suggesting and running campaigns. In 2024 and 2025, it will also involve driving and implementing a strategic, multi-pronged campaign highlighting the positive contribution of e-mobility to Europe.

Key responsibilities

The Communications Officer/Manager will:

  • Work closely with ChargeUp Europe’s communications committee to develop and implement the communications strategy, ensuring it is well integrated with ChargeUp Europe’s policy objectives;
  • Plan and deliver communications outputs, suggesting innovative formats where needed;
  • Drive and implement the 2024-2025 campaign;
  • Draft, proofread and edit content for ChargeUp Europe’s various materials (newsletters, visuals, videos, social media...), for a diverse audience of industry experts and EU policy-makers;
  • Develop impactful messages and narratives, driving a better understanding of the sector and its contribution to the green and digital transition;
  • Design and run thematic communications campaigns;
  • Profile and increase the reputation of the EV charging sector;
  • Monitor, analyze, and make suggestions to constantly improve ChargeUp Europe’s communications impact;
  • Assist in the promotion and organization of webinars and other internal events.

Profile

The ideal candidate would bring:

  • 2-4 years of working experience in communications;
  • Educational background in communications, journalism, European affairs, or a related field;
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills;
  • The ability to translate technical content into impactful messages tailored to different audiences;
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English (any additional EU language is an asset);
  • “Digital native” with a strong grasp of different communication tools (web, social media, newsletter tools, CMS);
  • Experience with developing visuals, videos, logos and other graphic design materials using appropriate software (NB: for technically more complex projects, ChargeUp Europe works with a graphic designer);
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Creativity and an eye for visual content;
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, and a strong team player with good interpersonal skills;
  • A campaigner background is a plus.

Drive and commitment are more important than academic achievements or experience. If you do not check all the boxes above but are committed to delivering excellent service to the members, you are welcome to apply and tell us about that in your cover letter. We are looking for a self-directed, creative professional with an enthusiasm for the role and the sector, and will invest in the professional and personal growth of the selected candidate.

The Offer

  • A permanent, full-time contract;
  • A salary package with the possibility of an annual bonus, subject to performance;
  • Lunch vouchers;
  • A pension plan;
  • A medical plan (including hospitalisation, dental care...);
  • A mobile device, mobile phone subscription, and laptop;
  • 25 days of holidays;
  • A flexible teleworking regime;
  • A monthly teleworking allowance;
  • A public transport subscription;
  • Representation fees;
  • Opportunity to be a member of a motivated, dynamic and international team;
  • A supportive work environment with the freedom to be creative;
  • Opportunities for formal training, backed by a dedicated training budget;
  • Direct exposure to a network of members who can bring knowledge and experience in managing different communication needs and objectives;
  • A location in the heart of Brussels' EU district;
  • The opportunity to be part of a dynamic, fast-growing sector.
