VVA Brussels, a young and fast-growing market, economic and policy consultancy providing top quality advice to the European institutions and private sector clients with a specific focus on Space, Telecommunications and Agrofood, is looking for a Consultant to extend its current team of consultants and researchers.

The Consultant contributes proposals and projects, where she/he will lead workstreams, often including the coordination of project partners.

Focusing on the internal management, the Consultant manages more junior resources, delegating and coordinating activities and monitoring the effective and efficient delivery of the outputs whilst meeting project deadlines in cooperation with the Project Manager.

On top of this, the Consultant will also be in charge of the coordination of project partners when their contributions are expected in the dedicated workstreams, discussing with the Project Manager the optimal strategy at the beginning and throughout the project.

Consultants contribute to implementation of tools and methodologies/innovation and to the identification and solution of problems. A critical mindset and creativity to support the development of new tools and methodologies are important skills which will be encouraged on the job.

All of the above implies that the candidate has a strong background and experience in:

  • desk research;
  • stakeholder consultations;
  • data analysis (qualitative and quantitative);
  • economic modelling (cost-benefit analysis, market evaluations, …);
  • report and proposal drafting in English;
  • oral presentations to clients.

Job description:

  • Draft high-quality client reports and sections of final deliverables and proposal;
  • Involve team members (up to 3) in an effective and efficient way to deliver project workstreams;
  • Manages workstreams across multiple projects, meeting project deadlines;
  • Eager to support the identification of solutions together with the Project Manager, tapping from an open but critical mindset;
  • Deliver high quality data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative);
  • Shares knowledge and contributes to its creation;
  • Is an active team builder within the company.

Fields in which the new candidate will be able to contribute to several projects and proposals:

  • Artificial Intelligence and robotics;
  • Digitalization across multiple sectors;
  • Public transport sector including Mobility-as-a-Service and Smart Mobility;
  • Rail sector including use of innovative technologies;
  • Applications and markets of “downstream” (satellite navigation and earth observation) Space technologies;
  • Space research;
  • Spectrum.

What we need:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrable knowledge/interest in EU market, economic and policy studies;
  • 2-3 year experience with EU projects in a consultancy environment;
  • demonstrable problem solving and quantitative analysis skills, enabling the candidate to perform market and cost-benefit assessments;
  • Experience in working in teams and collaborative environment. Previous experience in managing more junior resources is a plus;
  • strong self-motivation & flexibility required in a small & fast-growing consultancy business;
  • MSc in economics, business management or engineering, ideally with a focus on innovation and new technologies;
  • Fluent (written & spoken) English (French a plus);
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Client: DG CNCT, Title: Scenarios and conditions for the implementation of CAD - CCAM and proactive mapping of policy measures;
  • Client: European GNSS Agency, Title: GNSS Market Report Issues 4 (2015) to 6 (2019);
  • Client: European Commission (H2020), Title: Fulfilling enhanced Location Accuracy in the Mass-market through INitial GalileO services (FLAMINGO);
  • Client: DG GROW, Title: Support to standardisation actions for EGNOS & Galileo in Drones/RPAS/UAVs (EGNSS4RPAS);
  • Client: DG GROW, Title: Analysis to define the potential use of Innovation Procurement (PCP/PPI) within H2020 and Horizon Europe EGNSS market uptake calls;
  • Client: GSA, Title: Provision of specialised support to GSA’s market development in the area of public transport;
  • Client UAE TRA, Title: Spectrum Regulations Technical Studies.
