Closing date: Sunday 8th September 2019
This exciting role, working in the EU office of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), is your opportunity to join our dynamic team, engaging with senior business leaders and European policy makers. Our mission is to support the transition to a sustainable and climate neutral economy, including through the development of an ambitious industrial strategy and climate policies.
This role sits within our Policy Team, which works at EU, member state and international levels to deliver influential projects that include The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) (a founding member of the We Mean Business Coalition) and the EU Green Growth Platform.
The team is looking for a Programme Manager to lead a new project developed alongside We Mean Business and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The focus of this project will be on engaging companies in the heavy industry sector, and policy makers, to support policies that would put the sector on track for net zero emissions by 2050. This is in the context of major shifts in support for climate neutrality overall, and critical debates as to how to define an industrial strategy for the EU and the establishment of a new European Parliament and Commission.
As a Programme Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and deliver an ambitious programme of engagement with businesses in the heavy industry sector, liaising between work being done by the WBCSD, CDP and CLG, including building a bridge between the commitments made by companies and advocacy, and organising meetings and events. This would translate into work with EU policy makers, including MEPs, Ministers, Commission officials and experts. Where appropriate, you will conduct research and help draft briefing papers.
You will also help identify new areas of interest to engage in and develop relationships with key funding organisations whilst working with senior colleagues including the EU Senior Programme Manager, the Team Director, and the Brussels Chairman, to ensure CISL is adding value to European policy discussions.
We are looking for an individual who has knowledge and experience of the Brussels industrial policy sector and it’s decision-making process, and is now looking to further build their experience and help support action on climate change and making the economy more sustainable.
This post is fixed-term for a period of 18 months as the project will run from 2019 to 2021.
The starting date is to be determined based on the availability of the successful candidate.
The post may be extended pending project funding.
The role will be based in Brussels but will require travel, including visits to the United Kingdom.
Requests for a part-time position will be considered.
Applicants must have the right to work in Belgium.
