The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) is offering an internship position in its European Affairs team, based in Brussels. It provides a unique opportunity for training and on the job experience.

Responsibilities

Specific tasks include the monitoring and analysis of EU regulatory developments within the digital sphere of relevance to the organisation. This includes drafting memo’s, blog posts, reading and analysis of legislative/policy proposals and attending relevant events/meetings. In addition, ad-hoc research, event/project management, general communications work (e.g. social media) are part of the assignment.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential; other European languages are an advantage;
  • University degree in European Law, European Studies, International Relations, Economics, or Political Science;
  • Solid understanding of EU decision-making process;
  • Understanding of and interest in digital/internet technology, industry, and policy;
  • High level of energy and motivation;
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to cooperate with colleagues, both in Brussels and Washington, DC.;
  • Good sense of humour;
  • Candidates should have permission to work and live in Belgium and the European Union.
