Programme Assistant Green Trade

Europe Jacques Delors is looking for a full-time (38 hours/week) project assistant (F/M/D), based in Brussels. The position is for an initial period of 6 months, to be filled as soon as possible, with the possibility to extend to a year.
Europe Jacques Delors is focusing on sustainability and environmental issues, working on greening trade and industrial policy, agrifood, ocean protection, green finance and green diplomacy. We are a young and dynamic team of 10 people working at the SustainableHub in the European Quarter.
Your tasks:
- Support the green trade team in their tasks, e.g. on research and analysis for forthcoming publications on the interplay between trade and clean industrial policy, and the trade, environment, and development nexus; help them provide timely advice and policy analysis;
- Monitor relevant legislative files and policy developments at both EU and international level. These include international discussions on trade and climate, the Clean Industrial Deal, the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR), Free Trade Agreements negotiations, and new partnership models e.g. Clean Trade and Investment Partnerships;
- Support in the organisation of public events and high-level roundtables, including writing of concept notes, inviting speakers and participants, coordinating logistics, supporting communications activities as well as follow-up;
- Work closely with the communications team, e.g. to prepare briefings for events and media interviews, support the production and dissemination of our podcast (Rethinking Europe) as well as with video content;
- Contribute to media relations and social media content, promoting project activities and findings related to EJD’s research on green trade and industrial policy.
Your profile:
- Bachelor or Master diploma in political science, social sciences, history, economics or any related field;
- Full professional proficiency in English (C2). Passive understanding of French is necessary (listening and reading at B2 level);
- Excellent organisational skills, strong time management skills and the ability to respond to urgent tasks;
- Strong research, writing and editing skills with the ability to create engaging content on social media;
- Previous experience in think tanks, research or consultancy is considered an asset;
- Advanced knowledge of the European Union, its institutions, and legislative processes; good knowledge of the European Green Deal and sustainability issues is considered a plus;
- A strong spirit of initiative, engagement for the topics of Europe Jacques Delors and an ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
