Background:

This post is located in the Public Affairs Unit (PAU) within Direction and Policy at ODIHR in Warsaw. PAU promotes active support for human rights and democracy by increasing understanding and awareness among the public, the media, expert communities, and civil society as well as the diplomatic community, of the OSCE human dimension commitments and the principles underlying ODIHR’s mandate, together with the Office’s wider activities.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the ODIHR Spokesperson/Senior Press and Public Information Officer, the incumbent performs the following functions:

  • Maintaining the ODIHR website by posting new content and regularly updating and interlinking all relevant pages, including selecting and processing photographs and other images for the website;
  • Drafting and editing texts for the ODIHR website, ensuring that the information complies with OSCE style guidelines and is accurate and valid;
  • Producing audio-visual materials for the website and social media, as well as video addresses by senior management;
  • Drafting social media posts and coordinating social media planning across ODIHR’s platforms to increase engagement and outreach;
  • Overseeing livestream procedures for major ODIHR events as well as election observation press conferences;
  • Acting as a resource person to advise ODIHR staff on content, format, and posting processes, and ensuring that presentation of material is consistent with OSCE visual identity guidelines;
  • Maintaining regular contact with the online communications team at the OSCE Secretariat to ensure consistency with overall OSCE web operations;
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Necessary qualifications:

  • Second-level university degree in international relations, communications, information technology, humanities, or other related field; a first-level university degree in the mentioned fields in combination with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of the second-level university degree;
  • Certificate in web development or digital communications would be an asset;
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of website editing and social media management; experience in an international organization would be desirable;
  • Proven editing skills;
  • Knowledge of content management systems and search engine optimisation would be desirable;
  • Experience in administering institutional social media accounts would be desirable;
  • Ability and experience in the area of the production of audio-visual materials, including Adobe Creative Cloud would be desirable;
  • Full digital literacy and proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to draft and carry out a first edit of web texts and social media posts;
  • Fluency in Russian is strongly desired; intermediate knowledge in other official OSCE languages is an advantage;
  • The ability to be highly collegial as part of a close-knit team, but also to work independently, often under time pressure;
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds while remaining impartial and objective;
  • A high degree of gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
