Communications & Events Director

Job description:
The Director of Communications and Events is a newly created role, designed to bring Eurogas' external visibility and engagement objectives under one hat. This leadership position will streamline strategic communications and event planning, ensuring a unified and impactful approach to promoting the organisation’s vision and goals.

Key responsibilities:
Communication:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy, aligned with organisational goals;
- Oversee external communications to ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms (press releases, newsletters, website, social media, etc.);
- Provide strategic counsel on key messaging, reputation management, and media relations;
- Lead media relations and act as a spokesperson for the association.
Events:
- Develop event concepts that engage stakeholders, drive advocacy, and strengthen Eurogas' leadership in the energy sector;
- Identify, approach, and secure event sponsorships to support the financial and promotional success of events;
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact events, including conferences and workshops;
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure events align with overall communication and advocacy strategies.
General:
- Work closely with internal teams and members to ensure consistency in messaging across all communications platforms;
- Manage the budget for communications and events;
- Oversee EU funding projects;
- Supervise and mentor 4 team members (2 working on communications, 2 working on events);
- Evaluate performance of activities, providing insights on future improvement.
Your profile:
Required:
- Proven experience in a leadership role, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives;
- Experience in communications;
- Experience in managing media relations;
- Understanding of EU policymaking;
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills;
- Brussels based; eligible to work in the EU.
Desired:
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution of large-scale events;
- Experience in the energy sector, particularly in relation to gas and renewable energy, is a strong asset;
- Experience in the EU policy landscape (Fit for 55, REPowerEU);
- EU public fundings project management experience;
- Established network within the energy stakeholder landscape.
