We’re excited to introduce a new role. The Social Media Manager is responsible for administering Beyond Fossil Fuels' social media accounts, creating original copy, graphics and video for our digital comms channels (e.g. social media, website and newsletters) that will help establish the credibility of BFF's brand voice and grow our campaign’s presence and digital influence.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

  • Design and implement BFF’s social media strategy in alignment with our overarching communications strategy, ensuring consistency of brand voice and alignment with our campaign values and objectives;
  • Generate, edit, and publish engaging content (e.g. original copy, graphics, short videos and news commentary) on a daily basis that supports and enhances the reach and impact of our campaign;
  • Act as the voice of the brand across all channels, writing copy for posts, community responses and video scripts, while maintaining consistent brand tone of voice and aesthetic;
  • Set specific digital targets and conduct regular reporting, learning from the findings and adjusting efforts accordingly;
  • Develop and manage content calendars for social media and newsletters and schedule all content across relevant channels;
  • Drive organic follower growth, reach, and engagement;
  • Collaborate with other BFF secretariat comms colleagues, teams and BFF coalition partners and allies to ensure message consistency;
  • Plan and execute targeted paid social media promotions;
  • Work closely with partner organisations to support timely and strategic communication interventions and joint digital media efforts;
  • Select and work strategically with content creators aligned with our values and objectives;
  • Support rapid response communications, including rapid outreach and mobilisation activities, such as targeted social media campaigns;
  • Monitor the pulse of energy industry and political conversations, which is critical to crafting timely response messages;
  • Stay up-to-date with and be responsive to emerging content trends, newsworthy topics and platform tools;
  • Monitor platforms regularly to identify opportunities for reactive content, and cultural commentary and ensure - the social media strategy evolves with technological and cultural shifts;
  • Propose and implement new features to increase brand awareness and credibility.

Digital Content

  • Create engaging visuals for social media, website and newsletter, such as infographics, carousels, quote cards, etc. (e.g. using Canva);
  • Create lo-fi content, from memes to TikTok videos;
  • Work closely with partner organisations and external service providers to produce audiovisual content;
  • Help maintain and develop the campaign’s visual identity.

YOUR PROFILE

Required skills & experience

  • At least five years of experience working for energy, climate or environment civil society organisations as a social media manager;
  • Comprehensive understanding of the energy transition, including its political and economic context in Europe;
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and social copywriting skills in English, with a strong command of grammar, -punctuation, and style;
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively on content ideation and execution;
  • Experience in managing content calendars and scheduling posts;
  • Proven track record of driving organic follower growth and engagement;
  • Expertise in identifying and capitalising on social media trends and news;
  • Skilled in influencer management;
  • Familiarity with social listening and social media insights tools;
  • Highly organised and capable of balancing multiple priorities;
  • Confident working remotely with a broad range of people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Passionate about promoting a healthy, environmentally friendly, and fair society.

Desirable skills & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or field related to BFF’s areas of work;
  • Fluent in other European languages;
  • Professional training in social media management;
  • Ability to create engaging, lo-fi content for various social media platforms.
