Job profile and responsibilities

We are offering 2 full-time positions as Health & Safety Adviser and we are looking for proactive, solution-oriented graduates with outstanding scientific skills to join our team in Brussels, Belgium. As a H&S Adviser, you'll assess and manage the files, and advise the members on chemicals policies (REACH, CLP, Biocides), workplace legislation, products regulation (Food, Feed, Cosmetics, Pesticides,…) and related issues relevant to the industrial minerals industry. Your functions will also include developing and implementing product stewardship programmes and coordination of EU-funded projects.

We welcome applications from experienced professionals and junior professionals who wish to develop their careers in the EU affairs in Brussels.

Essential job functions

  • Analysis of regulation, drafting of position papers, technical files and meeting reports;
  • Coordinating IMA-Europe positions and advocacy with the members and relevant stakeholders;
  • Relations with EU institutions and agencies, NGOs, institutes and scientific & industry experts.

Qualifications and requirements

  • 1-5 years experience (experience in an Association is an asset);
  • University degree in science (e.g. geology, chemistry, biology) or engineering;
  • Knowledge in toxicology or willingness to learn toxicology;
  • Fluent in English (French, German or Spanish is an asset);
  • Rigorous, efficient and with excellent analytical, drafting, and organisational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: Diplomatic, flexible, assertive;
  • Interest in EU initiatives, legislation and regulatory processes;
  • Ability to work on multiple diverse assignments.

Our field of activity focuses on all non-commercial issues related to minerals, from their extraction and processing through to their end-use applications. Priorities evolve around health and safety, environment and sustainability, product safety as well as public awareness about the importance of industrial minerals.
