In Brussels, Brunswick focuses on EU public and regulatory affairs, financial communications, crisis and issues management, media relations and corporate reputation building. Our international and multilingual team has expertise in a broad number of areas of EU policy development and provides strategic advice and stakeholder relationsfor clients in sectors including financial services, technology, media and telecommunications, energy, environment, retail and consumer goods, agriculture and food, transport and healthcare.

The role

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile junior level consultant in our Brussels office, to join our teams working on various aspects of EU policy. The consultant would be responsible for:

  • Delivering insightful analysis and intelligence on EU policy issues, following formal proposals through the legislative process, and being able to connect policy developments to clients’ priorities and interests;
  • The quality of work presented to the client, including written briefings and intelligence reports, as well as generating ideas and thinking creatively for clients;
  • Developing strong external and internal networks that provide valuable insight for the firm and clients;
  • Establishing and implementing stakeholder engagement activities for clients;
  • In conjunction with client teams, assisting in the drafting of strategic, high quality briefing documents, messaging and positioning for clients on key issues.

The candidate

The ideal candidate would have:

  • At least 12 months of post-graduate experience in a relevant professional capacity (e.g. consultancy, in-house, trade association or governmental organisation);
  • Experience and understanding of EU policy making and development, particularly in the sectors listed above;
  • Ability to think strategically, plan ahead for future issues and events, and recognise opportunities for clients and the firm;
  • Familiarity with EU institutions and relevant stakeholders, the Brussels-based media and the corporate world;
  • Thorough understanding of the EU legislative process and the respective roles of the EU institutions and other policy influencers;
  • Ability to problem solve and think independently;
  • Fluent written and spoken English are essential. Knowledge of other European languages to a professional working standard, particularly French, would be an additional asset;
  • Excellent research, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
