A highly-organized individual with experience of EU advocacy and project management roles is required to coordinate the development of a new informal coalition of NGOs, social movements and think tanks in Brussels, the EU Food Policy Coalition.
Over 50 organizations have come together in the informal EU Food Policy Coalition to advocate for major EU reforms in order to spark a transition to sustainable food systems. In particular, the Coalition members are working for more integration of the policies affecting food systems (agriculture, trade, environment, food safety etc.) and ultimately the creation of a ‘Common Food Policy’. In their first joint action in May 2019, Coalition members sent an open letter to candidates for the European Commission presidency calling for an integrated food policy and a Vice-President for Sustainable Food Systems.
Over the 2019-2020 period, the Coalition plans to build formalised coordination mechanisms, to enhance its capacity for joint advocacy work, and to establish its strategy for the medium-to-long-term. A full-time coordinator is now required to manage the activities of the Coalition and to build it into an effective advocacy and information-sharing body. The coordinator will report to the seven organizations in the Coalition’s Executive Board (IPES-Food, Slow Food, EPHA, EEB, IFOAM, SAFE and ECVC), and will be based in the Brussels offices of one or several of those organizations on a rotating basis.
Candidates must send the following documents to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight CET on 5 September 2019 (email header: NAME - Coordinator application):
