BEUC and ANEC, The European Consumer Organisations, are looking to recruit a joint full-time: Project Coordinator on premature obsolescence and repair, Full-time position to start as of 1st October 2019 – 2-year contract to work on a Horizon-2020 Project that will focus on longer lasting and better repairable consumer products.

The duties of the Project Coordinator would include the following:

  • Coordinate a project on premature obsolescence and repair of products with a large consortium composed of consumer organisations, research institutes and repair organisations;
  • Draft and disseminate policy recommendations;
  • Influence European standardization priorities and work planning as well as individual product specific standards;
  • Organise workshops, conferences and briefing events;
  • Communicate the project results to the public;
  • Contribute to the project reporting (deliverables and finances);
  • Gather continuous input from ANEC’s and BEUC’s member organisations on premature obsolescence and repair and transforming this into joint positions;
  • Monitor policy developments and provide intelligence to the consortium;
  • Provide regular updates to ANEC and BEUC members on the project’s progress.

The main qualifications we are looking for are:

  • a master’s degree in environmental sciences/engineering with a minimum of 5 years work experience;
  • advanced strategic project management skills;
  • confident public speaker and good communications skills;
  • proactive and assertive personality;
  • knowledge of and an interest in sustainable consumption and production policies as well as the circular economy;
  • good working knowledge of the EU institutions and the European standardization landscape;
  • an understanding of consumer issues and a commitment to advancing the interests of consumers;
  • very good English required, French or German an asset.
