The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 230 national diabetes associations with two million members in some 170 countries and territories. For over 50 years, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy.

The mission of the International Diabetes Federation is to promote diabetes care, prevention and a cure worldwide.

We are looking to hire a full-time JPO to join our Education team. The person will be based in the IDF Office in Brussels, Belgium. IDF offers a fixed-term contract of 1 year which can be renewed.

Applicants must have EU nationality and/or right to work in Belgium without a work permit.

Purpose of role

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) will support the development and implementation of IDF projects, in order to promote diabetes education and improved care for people living with diabetes.

Key Responsibilities and activities

The JPO will undertake the following tasks and activities:

  • Coordination of an education project for children and diabetes in schools: implementing projects-specific action plans, ensuring timely delivery of project materials and deliverables, tracking the progress, including the use of education toolkits, writing periodic programmatic reports, etc.;
  • Moderation of an online knowledge sharing platform for diabetes health care professionals on a daily basis: facilitation of bi-weekly discussions, launch newsletters, follow-up new users registration and other online activities, etc.;
  • Contribution to the development and design of IDF educational online modules, coordinating content from experts and with developers, contributes on pilot testing of new initiatives and projects, etc.;
  • Supports other IDF education projects per request and/or perform other related duties, as assigned;
  • Supporting projects monitoring and evaluation: using project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects milestones, scheduling project follow up meetings as needed;
  • Effectively and accurately, communicate relevant projects information to the Manager, P&P and others teams;
  • Drafting social media post, and provide input into communication strategy related to the project;
  • Preparing and/or editing meeting minutes.

This list is not exhaustive and the successful applicant may be asked to undertake other duties in line with the position of JPO.

Skills/Competencies/Experience

Essential

  • At least One year of experience working on project implementation, including supporting monitoring and evaluation functions;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition or a Master’s in public health or equivalent;
  • Languages skill: near native English, fluency in other languages is an asset;
  • Professional writing skills;
  • It is an asset to have experience with education projects;
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently;
  • Keen interest in diabetes and the mission of the IDF;
  • Ability to work in multicultural and international environment;
  • Embracing IDF values, ethics, and beliefs;
  • Attention to details and accuracy.

Desirable

  • Knowledge in and capacity to analyse and interpret data: literature review, data collection and analysis (manually and using software), data management, result dissemination including drafting manuscripts for scientific publications, knowledge in analysing qualitative and quantitative data;
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
