Public Affairs Manager – Data Privacy & Security Policy

Samsung Electronics, one of the world’s leading technology companies, is looking for a mid-to-senior level public affairs manager to lead the work at the European Public Affairs (EPA) team on data privacy and cybersecurity policy.

You will join the EPA team to shape cybersecurity and data privacy policy, and drive outreach with representatives from EU institutions, agencies and other stakeholders in Brussels as well as support colleagues across Europe and overseas on these policy areas.

EPA is looking for an experienced public affairs professional confident in their ability and expertise in policy development and skilled advocacy on technology-related policy areas with particular focus on data privacy and cybersecurity.

We are seeking a proactive and adaptive individual who enjoys working in a collegial international team within a dynamic and fast-changing environment, where priorities shift rapidly apace with policy developments and the needs of the company.

You will be expected to contribute to our data privacy and security strategies and related global policy initiatives and have a strong understanding of EU and national policymaking and a wide network of relevant policymakers and influencers as well as the aptitude to continue developing such relationships.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute long and short-term strategies on relevant policy areas;
  • Maintain and build relationships with relevant policymakers;
  • Work with industry trade groups to develop written position papers, contribute to consultation responses as well as meetings, briefings and technical exchanges with relevant stakeholders;
  • Identify, monitor and analyse relevant policy trends and legislative proposals of importance for industry at large and Samsung in particular; anticipate emerging public policy developments that might impact the company on relevant policy areas in the EEA;
  • Cross-functionally work with internal stakeholders such as business units, legal, communications, regulatory, quality assurance and others as well as the broader policy team;
  • Advise internal stakeholders and teams on public policy matters to help guide development of products, services and policies; timely share with management information needed to make strategic decisions with critical impact on the company’s business;
  • Organise and facilitate external high level stakeholder visits, events and meetings.

Required:

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Law or related/relevant field;
  • Demonstrated experience in and in-depth knowledge of EU legislative process;
  • Excellent English and at least one other major EU language;
  • Several years of public affairs and/or related/relevant experience;
  • Several years of technology policy experience;
  • Several years of Brussels experience;
