Finance and Office Manager
For over 50 years, we’ve been campaigning for human rights wherever justice, freedom and truth are denied. We’ve reshaped policies, challenged governments and taken corporations to task. In doing so, we’ve changed thousands of lives for the better. Join Amnesty as our Finance and Office Manager at our European Institutions Office (EIO) in Brussels and you will too. This position is advertised on a permanent, part time basis at 22.8 hours (0.6FTE) per week.
Amnesty International’s EIO in Brussels coordinates and promotes our advocacy and campaigning directed at decision-makers in the European Union and Council of Europe. We seek to ensure that human rights are at the forefront of the internal and external policies of the EU and that the CoE and that their respective member states take tangible action to promote and protect human rights nationally, regionally and globally.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the Finance and Office Manager, you are integral in the management of the organizational and administrative services to ensure the effective operation of the EIO. You will be supported by the relevant finance, human resources and facilities teams in London (the Regional headquarters) and will monitor budgets, regularly reporting to local and international management, ensuring we meet all the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for implementing our global policies and putting in place local processes and systems in line with Belgian legislation will be instrumental to our initial and ongoing operational success.
As well as managing payroll and cash flow, you’ll have responsibility for facilities management, legal compliance, IT and a range of HR functions. You will appeal to specialists for specific accountancy, legal or HR advice. This will e.g. include day-to-day accounting and payroll management, securing contracts for (international) staff or (travel) procurement.
Reporting to the EU Advocacy Director in Brussels but with direct reporting to the overall Regional Director (London based), you will be accountable for all finance, human resources, facilities, legal, IT and administrative matters for the European Institutions Office based in Brussels.
A qualified and experienced accountant and/or office manager, you’ll be an expert when it comes to preparing and monitoring budgets and overseeing the smooth day-to-day management of an office. You’ll have good knowledge of Belgian accounting standards and labour law.
More than being methodical, organized and flexible, you’ll be confident in your ability to get things done in an efficient and compliant way. You’ll be fluent in Dutch and/or French. Day-to-day working language will be English (written and spoken).
