Job description and responsibilities

Working for an international association well established in the agri-food sector and based in Brussels, under the supervision and coordination of the Director, the Economic and Policy Advisor will:

  • Conduct analysis of some agricultural product markets and related EU trade policies;
  • Monitor the development of EU trade policy developments of these products;
  • Develop and supports advocacy positions and strategies in relation with the Director and Members of the Association;
  • Represent the interest of the association towards the EU institutions (EU Council, European Parliament, European Commission);
  • Liaise with members, preparing and developing working papers for meetings.

Areas of expertise

  • Agricultural markets and Common Agricultural Policy;
  • Trade policy for agri products/ European and international trade negotiations;
  • Legal and regulatory affairs;
  • Renewable energy policy;
  • Management of statistics database.

Minimum profile required

  • Excellent university degree preferably in (agricultural) Economics or European law;
  • 3 or 5 years work experience in Brussels, in a similar position within a company or an association;
  • Excellent capability to analyse and summarize regulatory and economic issues;
  • Rigour in data processing;
  • Fluent written/spoken English, excellent in at least two other European languages;
  • Team oriented, independent, flexible and very well-organised;
  • Good relational skills and sense of diplomacy;
  • Computer skills;
  • Residency in Belgium.
