The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) is the only global organization representing the common interests of marketers. Through its network of 60 national advertiser associations on five continents and almost 90 of the world’s top 100 marketers, WFA represents around 90% of global marketing communications, almost US$900 billion annually.

WFA defends marketers’ priority interests at global and EU level, champions responsible advertising standards and actively helps its members get better value for their ad spend.

Founded in 1953, the WFA has experienced excellent growth of late, with corporate membership doubling over the past six years.

About the team:

WFA has a small but growing team. The staff is made up of highly motivated people of a variety of different nationalities led by the Chief Executive. The successful candidate will be part of a team of six and report into the Director of Public Affairs and Communications.

As a team we aim to emulate and exceed the professional practices of our members. Despite being a not-for-profit organisation, we operate in a business environment and are rewarded based on success.

To join its public affairs team based in Brussels, WFA is recruiting a Public Affairs Executive (m/f).

Their main responsibility will be to support WFA's advocacy work in the field of marketing to children, food and alcohol marketing both with the EU institutions and global organisations, such as the World Health Organisation. This will mean working with some of the world’s biggest brands and help them to address regulatory challenges and sensitive public debates in relation to marketing and children, food and alcohol marketing in the context of broader public health challenges and emerging political debates, such as those posed by children’s increasing interaction with digital media.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in a highly professional, international environment;
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • A keen interest in and good understanding of current affairs and international politics;
  • An active interest in the role and responsibilities of business in society;
  • Mother tongue (or equivalent) level of written and spoken English.

Profile of the ideal candidate:

  • A multicultural profile, ideally speaking one or more additional EU language;
  • A results-driven, self-starter able to take initiatives and lead projects largely autonomously;
  • An outgoing, open personality;
  • Polyvalent, service-minded, reliable, rigorous, attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
